For me, cooking has never just been about food—it’s about the feeling in the room when a great plate hits the table.
That instinct started early. Growing up as a latchkey kid around age nine, I learned to manage my own routine—getting ready for school, making meals, and looking out for my dad. He worked long hours as a truck driver, so I did my best to make sure to cook a little extra for him so when he got home, dinner was ready. One of the first real meals I remember making was a roasted chicken with mashed potatoes and corn that he loved. Seeing how a good plate could bring comfort after a long day made me realize that cooking was my primary way of showing affection.
By high school, whether I was playing football, singing in the choir, or bringing dishes to family gatherings, creating things was just a natural part of who I am. (Though I learned early on that culinary experiments don't always go according to plan—like the time I made a shrimp pasta for my first love, Jessie, completely forgetting she didn't even like shrimp, forcing me right back to the stove to remake the whole meal!).
Even today, when I invite family over, I don't just throw things together—I map out full-blown menus because I want every meal to be an experience.
That lifelong passion eventually met professional rigor, taking me through every station in the kitchen—from the dish pit up to executive chef across restaurants in New Jersey, Maryland, and Virginia. Alongside my work as an actor, writer, and filmmaker, cooking remains one of my truest creative outlets.
The Rendered is my way of bringing that lifelong passion, precision, and personal touch directly to your home. No stuffy restaurant rules—just incredible food, great company, and a night to remember.
